DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

North Carolina/US East Coast: Moderately dense to dense smoke from the South 1 fire can be seen traveling to the southeast and merging with the cloud line off the coast. There have been signs of the Evans Road fire continuing to burn throughout the day but the smoke from it was not seen because of clouds over the area. Southeast US: An area of haze, which is likely remnants of the South 1 and Evans Road fires which traveled to the south earlier in the week, can be seen over the eastern portion of Florida and off the coast. Central US: A large area of of remnant smoke from the Indians and Whiskey fires can be seen extending across much of Nebraska, northern Kansas and entering into eastern Iowa and Missouri. Colorado: The Bridger fire in Las Animas county continues to emanate smoke which is light to moderately dense in composition. The smoke reaches southern Bent county to the west and the western border of Las Animas and Costilla counties. New Mexico: The Dripping Springs fire in southern Dona Ana county is generating light to moderately dense smoke which is traveling to the southeast through Otero county and is approaching El Paso county, Texas. Utah: Dense smoke from a fire in central Garfield county extends over 300km to the east reaching San Juan county Colorado and is over 100km in width at its widest point. Nevada: In north central Rye county, near the Monitor Range, the Elkhorn 2 fire is producing moderately dense to dense smoke which is traveling to the northeast extending into southern White Pine and Eureka counties. California: The Indians fire in Monterey county continues to burn generating moderately dense to dense smoke which is fanning out from the source. The smoke covers most of Monterey county and reaches San Luis Obispo county to the south and most of the way through San Benito county to the northeast. The Whiskey fire in Tehama county is producing dense smoke which extends over 170km to the northeast reaching central Lassen county. Washington: A fire located close to the border of Grant and Douglas county is emitting light to moderately dense smoke which is traveling to the north and east covering the central regions of both counties. Canada: The fires located in northern Saskatchewan continue to burn emitting moderately dense to dense smoke which can be seen occasionally through breaks in the clouds of the upper level low in the area. -Salemi
