DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1700Z August 9, 2020
SMOKE: Colorado/Wyoming/Nebraska/Utah… A fire in western Colorado was producing thick smoke extending eastward, with moderate-density smoke also extending westward over eastern Utah, as far north as southeastern Wyoming, and as far eastward as central Nebraska. Light smoke was also observed over much of the rest of Wyoming and South Dakota. California... The Red Salmon Complex in Humboldt County was producing moderate-density smoke this morning extending west and southward over the Eureka area. Lighter-density smoke also extended eastward near the California/Oregon border as far as the Nevada/California border. Southeastern U.S.... Areas of light remnant smoke were observed in southeastern Alabama, southern Georgia, and northeastern Florida drifting eastward. MC THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
