DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1920Z August 10, 2020
SMOKE: California... The Red Salmon Complex in Humboldt County remains active with largely stagnant moderate-to-heavy density smoke seen near the source. Moderate to light density smoke from that same fire covers much of northern California extending to the west over the Pacific ocean prior to turning south. Colorado/Nebraska/Iowa… The Pine Gulch Fire continues to burn in southwestern Garfield County in western Colorado releasing moderate-to-thick density smoke near the source. Moderate to light density smoke was seen moving towards the northeast. Smoke from that fire is seen extending across central Nebraska and nearing Iowa. Northwestern U.S.... Smoke from the Greenhouse fire in western Washington was seen producing moderate to heavy density smoke near the source and light density smoke that extended east with high winds into northern Idaho and northwestern Montana. JL THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
