DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Southeastern U.S. ... A patch of light density smoke attributed to seasonal burning was detected over central Georgia extending northeast into northwestern South Carolina. Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and the adjacent coastal waters... A long patch of light density smoke most likely attributed to the significant amount of burning yesterday was detected over eastern Virginia, southern Maryland, and southern Delaware. This plume and extends northeastward for approximately 1,000 miles over the the Atlantic Ocean just south of Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. Oregon and adjacent coastal waters... A area of light density smoke from numerous small fires was detected over the southwestern portion of Oregon and extending west off the coast where it is traveling in a southward direction over the the Pacific Ocean. Eglin THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
