DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0200Z December 14, 2020
SMOKE: Continental United States... The latest GOES Visible satellite imagery observed a weather system progressing through the Western U.S. and another weather system progressing towards the Southeastern U.S. No large regions of smoke were observed over the continental United States in this evening’s satellite imagery. Mexico/Southwestern and Western Gulf of Mexico... A small region of moderate to heavy density smoke was observed in the state of Tabasco. Moderate density smoke was also observed over a small region of the Southwestern Gulf of Mexico. A large region of light density smoke was observed from seasonal fire activity in the state of Veracruz and also along coastal Eastern Mexico and offshore out over the Western Gulf of Mexico in this evening’s satellite imagery. Dust... Northwestern Mexico and Western Texas... A small region of blowing dust was observed moving southwestward offshore out over the Eastern Pacific Ocean from the Central Baja of California in Northwestern Mexico. A region of blowing dust was observed along the Texas/Mexico border in the Del Rio/West Texas region progressing southeastward behind a weather system in this evening’s satellite imagery. Sambucci THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
