DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0100Z June 26, 2024
Alaska/Northwestern Canada... Light density smoke covered the entire region of northern Alaska and Canada. Fires in Alaska and Yukon Territory were observed producing plumes ranging from of light to heavy-density smoke which extended east into the Northwest Territories and Nunavut provinces. Quebec/Newfoundland… Multiple fires in Quebec and Newfoundland were observed producing moderate to heavy plumes moving towards the northeast. Pacific Northwest/Central Plains/Southeastern U.S./Atlantic Seaboard/Eastern Mexico... Light smoke covered a large area from Washington State eastward through the northern Great Lakes region. A combination of smoke from remnant fires in Canada, numerous agricultural fires in the US Central Plains, and smoke emanating from fires in Mexico, was observed across large portions of the central and eastern U.S. and extending north into New England and into the Atlantic. Light smoke also extended south over eastern Mexico along the Gulf. Mills THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
