DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Canada/Northern United States/Atlantic Ocean... Mixed density smoke attributed to wildfire activity across western and central Canada was seen spreading from the southern Northwest Territories and British Columbia, to western and northern Alberta, Saskatchewan, majority of Manitoba, Ontario and southern Quebec, reaching through New England and Newfoundland and continues extending further to the east over the Atlantic ocean. Extended patches of moderate-density were found over parts of the Northwest Territories, British Columbia, Manitoba, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario, while a detached thick density smoke plume was observed over southern Ontario. California/Pacific Northwest... Multiple wildfires continue to burn across the Pacific Northwest including the Park Fire in northern California and several more sites in central Oregon and Washington states. Moderate-to-heavy density smoke blanketed northern California, the majority of Oregon, Washington, Idaho and western Montana with numerous moderate to dense smoke plumes dispersing towards the north-northeast. DUST: A small areas of light Saharan dust could be seen in the western the Gulf of Mexico, while some light patches of Saharan dust was seen in parts of the Caribbean Sea. More Saharan dust was seen approaching the Lesser Antilles coming from the central Atlantic region. Eglin THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
