DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Canada/United States/Atlantic Ocean... Mixed density smoke attributed to wildfire activity across northwestern and central Canada was observed blowing eastward across Canada and extending southward into the Northern United States. Moderate to thick density smoke was observed from the large wildfires in central Saskatchewan, with the thick density smoke moving eastward across the province into cloud cover while moderate density smoke extended southeastward across the province and into southern Manitoba. Idaho/Montana... Continued wildfires in the Boise National Park region (Western Idaho) was observed producing large amounts of moderate to thick density smoke that extended northeast into Montana and parts of Wyoming. DUST: A light amount of Saharan Dust traveling off the western coast of Africa and moving westward into the Atlantic Ocean. Nguyen THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
