DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1550Z November 8, 2024
SMOKE: Central and Southern California Coast and Pacific Ocean... Mostly light density smoke, from the wildfire over portions of southern California, was seen along coastal locations of southern and central California and extending offshore into the Pacific Ocean New Jersey and New York: Several brush fires were noted on satellite imagery this morning over southern and central New Jersey and also over northern New Jersey just west of the Hudson River. Smoke plumes, that were light to localized moderate in density, were extending east from those fires offshore into the Atlantic Ocean and also into portions of southern New York State and southwest Connecticut with the fire west of the Hudson River. AEROSOL/SMOKE: Southwestern Mexico, Eastern Mexico and the Western Gulf of Mexico... An area of light density smoke/aerosols attributed to scattered fire activity, volcanic emissions and industrial sources was seen this morning along the southern and southwestern Pacific Coast of Mexico extending north through southern Mexico and along the east coast of Mexico to southern portions of Texas. Hanna THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
