THROUGH 2350Z November 9, 2024
SMOKE: Central Northern and Southern California Coast and Pacific Ocean... Light to moderate density smoke from wildfires in central and northern California was observed over central and northern regions of the state, as well as along coastal areas in southern and central California. As the evening progressed, the smoke plumes extending offshore into the Pacific Ocean, began blowing eastwards across North Central California. A second grouping of wildfires in the Southeastern portion of the state was also observed growing in intensity and emitting light to moderate smoke towards neighboring Arizona. New Jersey and New York: As seen during the morning, brush fires over the central boundary between New Jersey and New York were observed producing light to moderate density smoke that drifted southeast into the Atlantic Ocean. AEROSOL/SMOKE: Southwestern Mexico, Eastern Mexico and the Western Gulf of Mexico... An area of light density smoke/aerosols attributed to scattered fire activity, volcanic emissions and industrial sources was seen today along the southern and southwestern Pacific Coast of Mexico extending north through southern Mexico and along the east coast of Mexico. Cardona THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED. USERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO VIEW A GRAPHIC DEPICTION OF THESE AND OTHER PLUMES WHICH ARE LESS EXTENSIVE AND STILL ATTACHED TO THE SOURCE FIRE IN VARIOUS GRAPHIC FORMATS ON OUR WEB SITE: JPEG map: https://www.ospo.noaa.gov/data/land/fire/currenthms.jpg Smoke data: https://satepsanone.nesdis.noaa.gov/pub/FIRE/web/HMS/Smoke_Polygons Fire data: https://satepsanone.nesdis.noaa.gov/pub/FIRE/web/HMS/Fire_Points ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS REGARDING THIS PRODUCT SHOULD BE SENT TO: SSDFireTeam@noaa.gov
