DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1600Z November 20, 2024
SMOKE: No areas of significant smoke were observed this morning due to limited fire activity and widespread cloud cover across the HMS geographic domain. AEROSOL/SMOKE: Central Mexico/Gulf of Mexico... A light density aerosol plume was observed off the coast of Veracruz Mexico and the west/central parts of the Gulf of Mexico. This aerosol plume was likely produced from volcanic emissions and industrial activity from major urban centers within the central and southern regions of Mexico. Willkens THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
