DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Southeastern United States... Numerous light density smoke plumes attributed to seasonal agricultural burning was observed across the southeastern CONUS. Majority of the smoke plumes were observed moving north/westward before cloud cover obscured further observations. In addition, a patch of light to moderate density smoke was seen across southern Louisiana, due to high concentration of seasonal burning in the region. AEROSOL/SMOKE: Southern Mexico/Pacific Ocean... Areas of predominantly light density smoke and aerosols was observed today along Mexico’s southern coast, extending from coastline of Mexico and into the Pacific Ocean. Heavy cloud cover along the coast obstructed further smoke analysis. Nguyen THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
